Palos Park Police To Offer Free Active Shooter Training
Palos Park police is now offering active shooter training to local businesses, churches, schools and other organizations.

PALOS PARK, IL — The Palos Park Police Department is gearing up to offer active shooting training to local businesses, churches and other organizations in the village. Knowing how to stay calm in the chaos of a violent situation could save your life and others.
Sessions will be given by Sgt. Diana Campbell and Officer Jason Caiazzo, who have completed ALICE training, a civilian active shooter response training program for schools, work places, health care facilities, places of worship and communities. ALICE – Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate – replaces fear and trauma with skills and knowledge to respond when shots are fired, and increase your and others chances of survival and mitigate risk.
The training is broken down into easily digestible and understandable topics, including a presentation and hands on practice. Officers can also perform a threat assessment of your building.

“We want to teach citizens how to prepare plans for handling threatening situations until police arrive,” Campbell said. “Part of training involves doing a threat assessment, which includes looking for entry points and determining what changes could be made and hardening a building’s vulnerable areas.”
The active shooter training is available now and FREE to Palos Park establishments. To request training, email Chief Joe Miller, jmiller@palospark.org, or call 708-671-3771
