Palos Park Police Will Help Revelers Get Home Safely on New Year's Eve

Put down the keys and pick up the phone. Call police to help you get home.

Additional police officers will be working in Palos Park on New Year’s Eve—and they can help revelers get home safely.

Anyone who has overindulged in holiday spirits can call police, who will find partygoers a way home.

“Our goal is to encourage people to take advantage of the program and let us get them home safely,” said Chief Joe Miller. “If someone is impaired and needs a ride, we would much rather have them call us than get behind the wheel and get into an accident.”

Police officers will ensure residents get home safely, not to another drinking establishment or party. Police can be reached at 448-2191, or Chief Joe Miller’s cell phone directly at 259-1035.

In addition, officers will pop in on residences where families have left underage people at home. The department will send officers on patrol to check on the homes between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m.
