Palos Salutes Their Veterans, Nov. 10 and Nov. 11

Palos Park And Palos Heights are hosting Veterans Day ceremonies and receptions on Nov. 10; Palos Hills plans ceremony on Nov. 11.

PALOS, IL -- The Village of Palos Park will salute its veterans with a Veterans Day ceremony and luncheon starting at noon this Friday, Nov. 10. A formal presentation will take place at the Palos Park VFW Memorial outside the Palos Park Rec Center, 8901 W. 123rd St., Palos Park.

A luncheon with patriotic entertainment immediately follows inside the rec center. The program includes the Orland/Palos VFW Post 2604 color guard, “America the Beautiful” led by the Palos Park Women’s Club, and Tom Cameron singing the “Star Spangled Banner.” Former Congressman William Lipinski and Mayor John Mahoney will speak, with the invocation offered by Micah VanDyken, director of community life at Palos Park Presbyterian Church.

The luncheon is free for all veterans, $10 for family and friends. They women’s club and Palos Park Garden Guild are generously providing the dessert table.

Palos Heights, Friday, Nov. 10

The city's annual Veterans Day Program will be held on Friday, Nov. 10 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in Memorial Park located across from Palos Heights City Hall, 7607 W. College Drive. In the event of rain, the program will be held inside city hall. A reception is being held at the Palos Heights Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave. at noon to meet and greet local veterans. Light refreshments will be served.

Palos Hills, Saturday, Nov. 11

In honor of Veterans Day, the City of Palos Hills will be honoring those who have served or continue to serve our country. The event will take place at the Veterans Memorial located at the southwest end of Town Square Park, 8455 W. 103rd St. All are invited to attend. For more information, please call 708-430-4500. In case of inclement weather, the program will take place inside the community center, located right next to the park.
