Palos South Places 2nd in SWIC Conference, 1st in North Division

Palos South Middle School's eighth grade boys' basketball team finished second in the post season Southwest Interscholastic Conference.

Palos South Middle School’s eighth grade boys’ basketball team finished second in the post season Southwest Interscholastic Conference (SWIC) in March. The Cardinals completed the season with a 13-3 record and finished first in the North Division. During the championship game, the team lost 55-52 to undefeated Century Junior High following a last second 3-point shot. Student athletes Daniel Salkauskas and Kevin Salkauskas were named All-Conference Players.

The 2022-23 team included Patrick Hennessy, Petros Tsoutsas, Luke Kryszinski, Cade Koehler, Kevin Salkauskas, Daniel Salkauskas, Ryne Specht, Manny Segovia, Afaneh Samra, Colin Cambell, mgr John Zoltek, Evan Speh, Miles Sanchez, managers Molly Hennessy, Yaseen Kittaneh, and John Zoltek, and coaches Randy Buvala and Angela Rudolph.

“I am so proud of this squad,” said Coach Randy Buvala.

“They worked very hard for me all season long. Their level of improvement throughout the season was incredible. I look forward to seeing these gentlemen play at the next level,” he said.
