Palos South Soccer Team Finishes 2nd in SWIC Conference

Palos South Middle School’s girls’ soccer team finished second in the post-season Southwest Interscholastic Conference (SWIC) in May. The Cardinals completed the regular season with a 10-3-1 record and a third place finish in their conference.

The 2022-23 team included sixth graders: Emma Froylan, Anna Mulica, and Lexie Rispin; seventh graders: Ebha O Boyle-Carr, Jessica Chmielewski, Veronica Perez, Grace Roe, Sophia Wilson, and goalkeeper Katy Zumerchik; eighth graders: Patricia Duda, Molly Hennessy, Victoria Kulach, Gemma Moran, Rawan Al Obaidy, Victoria Perez, and Raine Rispin.

Coach Randy Buvala said that the team worked hard to move up in the standings, going from seventh place early in the season to their eventual third place finish in the Southwest Interscholastic Conference this spring.

“This team was fabulous,” he said. “They just kept improving.”

“I’m looking forward to seeing what our 8th graders can accomplish in high school and what our younger players will do next season,” he said.
