Embattled Palos Twp. Tr. Sharon Brannigan runs away from constituents demanding her to step down after alleged anti-Muslim Facebook posts.
PALOS TOWNSHIP, IL -- Angry constituents followed embattled Palos Township Tr. Sharon Brannigan into the parking lot after the township board adjourned its regular monthly meeting on Sept. 11. Constituents, many of them Arab Americans, as well as community activists, have packed the normally sparsely attended Palos Township Board meetings demanding Brannigan’s resignation over alleged remarks disparaging Muslims on her official Facebook page.
Brannigan briskly walked away from her constituents. At one point, the man with her, said to be her husband, turned and yelled at residents following her into the parking lot.
