Paul Arnold Huhtelin

Paul Arnold Huhtelin of Orland Park, Illinois passed peacefully on May 31st, 2022. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 3rd, 1949.

He was the beloved husband of his loving wife, Cheryl Lynn Huhtelin (Kennedy). He is survived by his four loving children, David (Carley) Huhtelin, Matthew (Kelly) Huhtelin, Melissa Huhtelin, and Lindsey (Dean) Lozanovic. Paul was the proud grandfather of Blake Huhtelin, Bryan Huhtelin, Anja Lozanovic, Korina Lozanovic, and Novak Lozanovic.

Paul was the only child of his mother and father; however, he had many half and step siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold Huhtelin and Bernice Daunis.

Paul attended and graduated from Maine South High School in 1967.

Paul worked very hard supporting his family, wearing many hats over the years. He started his career as a youngster riding his bicycle delivering newspapers, of which he continued to enjoy reading throughout life. He later became a dispatcher for the Lagrange Park Police Department. After his dispatching role, he became an auditor for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad for 16 years, traveling to many parts of the country. Paul then attempted his hand at entrepreneurship, owning Paul’s Express Oil. This endeavor failed due to Paul giving away too many free services and discounts to the elderly and people in need. Paul finished his professional career working in the concrete industry for 26 years. This time was split evenly between Ozinga and Prairie, where he worked in sales and managed concrete plants. In his free time, Paul always enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing, riding his motorcycle, and had a pilot’s license for gliders and small engine planes. He enjoyed these experiences even more with his children. He was an avid collector of pens, watches, coins, and pocketknives. Paul always enjoyed hanging out with his dogs on the driveway while listening to music, as he waved and said hello to neighbors and passersby in the neighborhood.

The family would like to acknowledge the significant contribution Paul’s loving daughter, Melissa, provided with Cheryl in caring for her father, allowing him to stay comfortably at home surrounded by his family until his peaceful passing. The family would like to thank Marina Velazquez for her help, care, and compassion with Paul. The family also recognizes Lori Sears with Will County Senior Services, Palos Health Home Health Services, and Lightways Hospice.

Visitation Sunday, June 5th from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Chapel Service Monday, June 6th, 11 a.m. at the KERRY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CARE CENTER, 7020 W. 127th Street, Palos Heights proceeding to Beverly Cemetery for a graveside committal.
