PLOWS Offers Assistance to Seniors Applying for Property Tax Deferrals
PLOWS can assist seniors in applying for the Senior Citizen Real Estate Tax Deferral Program. Applications must be filed by March 1.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL -- Seniors age 65 and older may eligible for property tax relief through a State of Illinois program that allows qualified persons to defer up to $5,000 annually of their property taxes on their personal residence.
Many seniors living on fixed incomes find that Illinois’s Senior Citizen Real Estate Tax Deferral Program allows them the financial freedom to remain in their own home. Deferred taxes are repaid with low interest at the time the property is sold or following the taxpayer’s death.
PLOWS Council on Aging is offering assistance to seniors in applying for the program. PLOWS’ trained staff screens seniors for eligibility and assists them with the application process. Applications must be filed by March 1.
