Presenting the Adoption Option

The Alliance of DuPage Advocates for Pregnant and Parenting Teens will be holding an ADAPT Spring Meeting on Friday, March 16 at Downers Grove South High School. The training is being offered to social workers and case managers. A featured speaker at the event will be Rebecca MacDougall, the Executive Director of Bethany Christian Services of Illinois.

Rebecca will be presenting on the Adoption Option. Some topics that will be covered are: the option of adoption, stories of hope, trends and numbers, who makes adoption plans, and Illinois State laws. Rebecca has been working with birth and adoptive families for over 30 years and has personally facilitated more than 400 adoptions. She has played a key role in developing education and mediation in open fertility, openness, transracial adoption, and Unique Tasks of Adoptive Parenting. She and her husband Wayne are parents of three children ages 29, 27, and 21, who joined their family through adoption. Their family has had experience as foster parents and with open adoption, transracial adoption, and sibling adoption.

The social workers attending the meeting will receive CEU credits. Bethany Christian Services is approved as a provider for social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) www.aswb.org through the Approved Continuing Education Approval.
