Re-Elect your North Palos School Board

North Palos School District 117

I feel that it is very important for school board candidates to provide information to voters on their qualifications, viewpoints, and reasons for wanting to be on the school board. I have worked to do that through articles in the Patch, www.SupportNorthPalos.com, Facebook, meet and greets and walking the neighborhood to provide information and answer your questions. My husband and I have lived here for 25-years and are very proud of our schools and community. We have volunteered across many groups and organizations in our community during that time. My unique qualification for the school board is my strong expertise in state education funding and school finance.

I am also supporting the re-election of our current school board and the election of John Gawel to fill an open seat. Tom Kostes, Lauren Potokar, Bobby Greene and I are seeking re-election to the school board. John would provide a valuable perspective of a classroom teacher to our school board. He has been a special education teacher in a neighboring school for 21 years and has been a community volunteer with the Lions Club and St. Baldrick's Foundation.

North Palos provides our students one of the best educations in our State. Our schools are designated as Exemplary schools in Illinois, North Palos has received 3 prestigious National Blue-Ribbon awards and 2 National Distinguished School awards. We are fiscally responsible and have successfully advocated for more state education funding to reduce our reliance on property taxes. We have used this additional funding to expand academic programs, lower our student to teacher ratio, improve our school buildings and provide 3.5 million in meaningful property tax relief to our community. That is approximately $700 per household in property tax savings.

The school board that you elect on April 4th will be tasked with selecting a new Superintendent to lead our schools. Dr. Jeannie Stachowiak will be retiring at the end of next school year. We need a school board with the experience and qualifications to select a new Superintendent that will continue to focus on academic excellence, share our community values, be fiscally responsible and continue to support our property tax relief efforts. This election is very important to our community and keeping our schools strong. Our Community, Our Schools, Our Success Story
