Residents Asked To Check Security Video For Car Thief Suspects

Palos Park police ask residents to check home surveillance for video of three suspects believed to be involved in multiple car thefts.

PALOS PARK, IL — Palos Park police spent Tuesday evening chasing down three suspects who they say stole a white Hyundai. Now police are asking residents to check their home security video to help in the investigation. The Hyundai was later recovered.

Around 8 p.m. Oct. 22, police said a young African-American man, possibly a teen, wearing a red hoodie was seen climbing into a white Hyundai running unattended in a driveway on St. Moritz Drive. The suspect was seen speeding away in the car eastbound on Rt. 83.

Palos Park police are looking for three suspects in addition to the man allegedly making off in the Hyundai. The other two are described as a Hispanic male possibly in his teens with a thin build and wearing a gray hoodie, and third younger man with a dark complexion. The three are wanted on charges of criminal trespassing, theft and vehicle theft.

The car was later found near 135th Street and Kedzie Avenue. Police said the car had been dumped where the three suspects boosted a BMW in Robbins. An ongoing investigation tracks the three suspects moving east from Palos Park to Lake County, Ind., where other vehicles were apparently stolen in the Chicago region.

Residents in the area bounded by 86th Avenue, 80th Avenue, 123rd Street and the Cal-Sag are asked to check their home security systems between 6 and 8 p.m. for images or footage of the three suspects, walking around homes and driveways. The three could possibly be checking vehicle doors, garage door openers and entering vehicles.
