Dist. 142 Alerts Parents of Second Child Luring Attempt

Dist. 142 alerts parents of man driving a white van or SUV trying to lure child into vehicle on Jan. 30, similar to Jan. 24 incident.

OAK FOREST, IL -- For the second time in a week, a Dist. 142 student was approached by a man driving a white van or SUV after school and told to get into the vehicle. Forest Ridge Elementary Dist. 142 notified parents via email of the second incident that happened Tuesday afternoon. Residents are asked to call 911 immediately if they see anything suspicious, such as an unfamiliar vehicle trolling the neighborhood, or if their children are approached.

After Foster School was dismissed for the afternoon, a student was approached by a male in a white van or SUV across the street from Hille Middle School, 5800 151st St., Oak Forest. The driver asked the student to get into the vehicle. Oak Forest police were notified and and sent officers to the area.

On Jan. 24, following the Kerkstra Elementary School afternoon dismissal, police reported a man in in a white van or SUV approaching a student near the corner of Mission Avenue and LePalm Driver/Court. The student was told to get into the car. Police increased their presence around the school.
