Sal's Phillys Brings Taste Of Philadelphia To Palos Park

Sal's Phillys brings a taste of Philadelphia to Palos Park with the opening of new location in Palos Park.

PALOS PARK, IL -- A Homer Glen man is bringing a taste of Philadelphia to Palos Park. Sal’s Phillys opened its doors Dec. 21, specializing in the best Philly Cheesesteak sandwiches west of the City of Brotherly Love. This is no corporate franchise posing as a “family” business but is locally owned by Homer Glen-resident Sal Bal and his business partner, Omar.

The first Sal’s Phillys opened six months ago in Homer Glen with astounding success. The new Sal’s is located on the corner of 131st Street and LaGrange Road in the Jewel-Osco-anchored shopping plaza across from Carl Sandburg High School. Sal’s offers a variety of cheese steak sandwiches in addition to the classic Philly, including steak Italiano, spicy buffalo chicken, chicken teriyaki, chicken parm, steak and chicken and southern shrimp. The menu also features grilled chicken pita sandwiches, gyros, hamburgers, Chicago dogs and Greek salads, to name a few. A kids’ menu is also available.

Bal tries to locally source other well-known Chicago brands as much as possible, including rolls and buns from Turano Baking Co. in Berwyn. The beef is flown in special from Philadelphia. An original mural of the Chicago skyline by Chicago artist Christian graces the wall of the Palos Park location.
