This past weekend, the Stagg and Sandburg winter guards traveled together to Kansas City, Missouri to participate in a regional competition through Winter Guard International.
There were 25 teams from 6 different states (Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, Texas, and Minnesota) in the class.
While the Sandburg guard just missed the cut, Stagg's guard advanced into the finals of the competition. After a great finals performance, the Stagg guard finished 10th overall in their class, moving up two spots from prelims.
"Both teams worked well together throughout the weekend, helping each other with getting props on and off the floor and cheering each other on," said Stagg coach Kate Alstadt. "It was a great show of D230 schools supporting each other."
The Stagg guard is coached by Missy Pietruszynski, Kate Alstadt, and Tammy Pietruszynski. The Sandburg guard is coached by Michelle Hardy and Jeannie Cacciato.
