Festive Fun Ahead at Sandburg's Holiday Family Day

Sandburg High School presents two fantastic holiday events for families and kids of all ages. Each year, the school’s theater students put on a holiday play for the community at large. This year is no different – with an added twist. In addition to the three-show production, the school’s Performing Arts Center has been transformed into a winter wonderland for its first Holiday Family Fun Day – a kid-focused event with loads of holiday-inspired activities, and pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Families are invited to spend the afternoon of Saturday, December 19th frolicking between activity stations including cookie decorating, face painting, games and holiday crafts. Or head to the 600-seat theater to watch holiday classics on the big screen. Parents can enjoy the many delicious selections at the bake sale, or take a chance at winning some incredible items available in the basket raffle. The event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Entrance fee is $3 per person or $10 per family of 4 or more.

If you are looking for a fun family play that celebrates the holidays come to Sandburg’s 2015 Holiday Show featuring the holiday favorite A Charlie Brown Christmas and Abiyoyo. Performances are Friday, December 18 and 19 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 20 at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for children and $8 for adults and can be purchased in advance or at the door. For information and tickets, call (708) 671-4130.

The Holiday Family Fun Day and 2015 Holiday Show will take place at Carl Sandburg High School’s Performing Arts Center located at 13300 S. LaGrange Rd in Orland Park. All proceeds from these events benefit the Sandburg PLAYS Scotland 2016 theater group.
