Senior Citizen Loses $19K In Phone Scam

The fake Chase Bank rep told the senior to send money to prove she wasn't engaged in "fraudulent activities," Palos Hills police said.

PALOS HILLS, IL — A senior citizen was pressured into sending thousands of dollars to a caller posing as a Chase bank rep, Palos Hills police reports said.

The deceptive practice unfolded Dec. 29 in 10400 block of Roberts Road. The senior said she received a call from someone saying she needed to send funds to verify that she wasn’t involved in fraudulent activity.

Police said the woman send approximately $19,000 in cash. The incident is under investigation.
