
Shepard High School Athletic Director Curry Gallagher compiled a list of achievements by teams and individual athletes during the 2014-2015 school year. Shepard celebrated so much:
•8 team conference championships: Girls Tennis, Girls Volleyball, Cheerleading, Girls Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Boys Track, Girls Track
•4th place in President’s Cup points for the South Suburban Conference (out of 14 teams). Schools in the SSC compete for this trophy for the best overall athletics program;

•75 all-conference athletes: 24 in fall, 16 in winter and 35 in spring;
•2 conference players of the year: Kendall Yerkes (girls volleyball) and Aubrey Quick (girls soccer);

•1 team qualifier for state championships: Cheerleading;
•6 individuals and 1 relay team qualified for the IHSA state championships;
•2 IHSA All-State individuals & 1 All-State Relay.
• Fall: 5 individual and 2 pairs conference champions
-Rachel Habbal & Brooke Zielke (freshmen) in girls tennis (1st Doubles)
-Kelsey & Taylor Domina (juniors) in girls tennis (2nd doubles)
-Caleb Washington (sophomore) in boys cross country
-Kelli Callahan (sophomore) in girls cross country
-Shane Wright (senior) in golf
-Annie Rangel (sophomore) in girls swimming (100 butterfly and 500 freestyle)
• Fall: 1 individual regional champion and state qualifier
-Caleb Washington (sophomore) in boys cross country
-first ever individual regional champion in school history
-ran fastest time in school history at the state meet
-first Shepard sophomore to qualify for state since 1979
- Eric Walters won conference (and earned All-SSC three years straight!)
• Girls volleyball broke 5 school records this year
• Girls swimming broke a 3 school records. Mary Lippert broke the 32 year old record in the 50 freestyle, Annie Rangel broke her own record from last year in the 200 freestyle and Mary Lippert, Grace Spindler, Annie Rangel and Rebecca Gleich broke the 400 freestyle relay record.
• Winter: 3 individual and 2 relay conference champions
-Sanders Yu (senior) won conference championship in all 4 of his events in boys swimming (200 IM, 100 breaststroke, 200 medley Relay and 200 freestyle relay)
-Tyler Timmer (senior) in diving
-Hayden Wiest (junior) in boys swimming (100 backstroke)
-Hayden Wiest, Sanders Yu, Jeremy Schultz, Andrew Choragwicki (200 medley relay)
-Hayden Wiest, Andrew Choragwicki, Mike Graham, Sanders Yu (200 free relay)
• Winter: 1 IHSA state qualifier and 1 non-IHSA state champion and national qualifier
-Skylor Hilger qualified for the state competition for the 3rd straight year in girls gymnastics (vault, floor exercise and all-around)
-Savanna Tarver won the Illinois state championship in female wrestling and went on to have a 3-2 record at the national tournament while representing Illinois
• Spring: 10 individual and 4 relay conference championships

• Spring: 1 individual all-sectional, 2 individuals and 1 relay IHSA All State
-Kelly Evancich (senior) all sectional in girls soccer
-Khalia McIntyre (senior) took 7th place at IHSA state finals

-Aubrey Quick (senior) 2 time All State in girls soccer (2014 & 2015)
• Boys and girls track both won their 4th consecutive conference championships
• Baseball won its 1st conference championship in 20 years
• Softball won its 1st conference championship since 2005 and 1st ever SSC Red conference championship
• Boys Cross country has finished 1st or 2nd in conference for 10 consecutive years
• Cheerleading has won 4 consecutive conference championships
