Shepard students earn All-State honors in track
Astros return from Eastern Illinois University with medals and a new record.
The varsity girls track team from Shepard High School delivered a sterling performance this weekend at the IHSA state finals at Eastern Illinois University.
Their remarkable season -- so many records and a fourth straight South Suburban Conference Red Division championship -- ended with Shepard athletes earning all-state honors in two events.
Khalia McIntyre earned seventh place in the state in Long Jump with a mark of 18’2.5”. Khalia earned IHSA All-State honors as a result.

Khalia then earned a second medal along with Chasz Wells, Mariah Terry, and Day-Sha Tillman in the 4x100 meter relay.
They “demolished their old school record,” varsity track coach Scot Rybarczyk said, posting a time of 48.30 in preliminaries to advance to finals. They then took ninth place to earn IHSA All-State honors.
