'Short Man In Reflective Vest' Distracts Senior While 3 Rob Home

PALOS HILLS, IL — Ruse burglars took jewelry and other items from an elderly resident’s home during a “water inspection,” reports said.

Palos Hills police investigated a residential burglary Jan. 20 in the 10400 block of 80th Court. The woman told police that a short man wearing a reflective vest came to her door and said there was a problem with her water. He asked to be let into her basement.

While the woman and “inspector” were downstairs in the basement, neighbors told police that three other men slipped into her house. Jewelry and other miscellaneous items were missing from the house.

The men drove off in a vehicle without turning on the headlights.
