Sports Photo Gallery: Palos Area Swim Sharks Live Up to Their Billing

Yes, there is a killer-sound to their team nickname. But it's more than sound. PASS swimmers recorded a number of personal-best times in a recent meet at Oak Forest.

There were sharks in the water during a recent swim meet at Oak Forest High School.

Some won their events. Many recorded personal-best times in a competition between neighborhood rivals. And a good time was had by all.

The Sharks train at Shepard High School in Palos Heights. The competitive swim team is comprised of 4-18 year-olds, both boys and girls, and is coached by Maureen Featherstone.

"I have loved being a coach and the team has grown since I have started coaching the swim club,” Featherstone said. "Our swimmers work very hard and we have had many accomplishments as a team and individually over the years.

"This summer, the team has five members who have qualified for multiple regional events.  I make sure the swimmers are learning and challenging themselves every practice, but most of all I want there swimming experience to be a fun and exciting childhood memory."
