Sr. Rita Specht Addresses Migrant Crisis At League Of Women Voters
Sr. Rita Specht, of the Sisters of Mercy, will address work on behalf of asylum seekers Saturday, Feb. 10 at the LWV Palos-Orland meeting.
PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — The migrant crisis and the work being done on behalf of asylum seekers will be the topic of a program hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Palos-Orland Area Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Palos Heights Public Library, 12501 S. 71st Ave.
“Immigration Today” features Sr. Rita Sprecht, of the Sisters of Mercy, will talk about the crisis resulting from the needs of humanity at the U.S. southern border. Sprecht is a member of the Peace of Justice Committee founding Catherine’s Caring Cause that assists asylum seekers in Chicago.
The meeting starts with coffee and conversation at 9:30 a.m., followed by the presentation at 10 a.m. Goodwill donations accepted for Catherine’s Caring Cause.
