St. Patricia School’s JHS Completes Service Project for P.A.W.S.
St Patricia 8th grade Junior Honor Society students collected needed items for donation to help support homeless animals.

Junior Honor Society members of St. Patricia School in Hickory Hills completed their annual Community Service Project, choosing to support P.A.W.S. Shelter in Tinley Park. JHS students felt that the P.A.W.S. mission to save animals lives and work to improve the way homeless animals are treated and regarded by society made the shelter a wonderful cause to collect for. JHS has a long tradition of service and excellence at St. Patricia for over 20 years. In order to qualify for JHS, students must have a 3.2 grade point average and no grades lower than a B- on their report cards in 7th grade. In addition to the grade point average requirement in 7th grade, they must also have 15 service hours in 7th grade. Students then must maintain a 3.2 grade point average throughout 8th grade year to remain in the honors group. The group’s focus is on community service and they also sponsor activities throughout St. Patricia during the school year.
The acts of service performed by our JHS students go hand in hand with the schoolwide St. Patricia Cares Campaign. Encouraging young people to take an active role in their community helps to build empathy and strength of character and educates the whole child. Having our 8th grade JHS students lead by example inspires not only our student body to act with generous heart, but our staff, parents and parish family.
