St. Patricia School Supports Red Nose Day
St. Patricia students have been participating in activities leading up to Red Nose Day on May 24, 2018.

There is something funny going on at St. Patricia School in Hickory Hills this spring. Students in Pre-K through 8th grade have been getting silly serious about raising awareness on fighting childhood poverty. Classrooms have been taking part in "Red Nose Day in the Classroom" activities and learning about what living in poverty means. Red Nose Day has raised over $100 million dollars in three years and helped over 8 million children in America and around the world. Funds from Red Nose Day support programs that focus and keep children safe, healthy, and educated. In April and May, we hosted school wide dress down days to raise money for each student and staff member to have their red noses ready for the big day, Thursday, May 24th.
By learning about the challenges poverty causes in the lives of others their age, our students build empathy and perspective, which in turn builds their character in positive directions. The “St. Patricia Cares” Campaign has allowed our students to feel like they can have an impact on the world around them through acts of service. One of the pillars of Catholic education is the value of service. At St. Patricia School, we know that engaging young people in their community strengthens their character, builds compassion and empathy, and helps them to grow into adults who take on an active role in the world. We are not just educating the mind, but the spirit of our students.
