Stagg Bass Fishing Team Takes First Place in Sectional
The team had a five-fish total of just under 14 pounds.
On Friday May 1, the Stagg HS Bass Fishing Team won the IHSA Sectional tournament on the Des Plaines River.
The team was captained by Head Coach Brian Jackson and assisted by Bill Laschober, Jim Sawyer, and Jeff Eadinger.
The winning team consisted of student starters Joe Vella and Nick Cutrone, along with Ryan Slager and Shawn Rodgers. They had a 5 fish total weight of 13.52 pounds. Nick Cutrone caught the Big Bass of the tournament, with a 4.4-pound fish. The team qualified to fish in the two day IHSA State tournament at Lake Carlyle.
