North Palos School District 117 is pleased to announce Stephanie Johnson as the new principal at Sorrick School in Palos Hills. She will begin her new role July 1. Mrs. Johnson will replace Natalie Profita who was named the Director of Recruitment and Retainment in North Palos School District 117.
Mrs. Johnson started her career in NPD117 as a teacher at Glen Oaks School where she spent more than a decade before being named a Team Leader at Sorrick School. She served as assistant principal at Glen Oaks before being named principal two years ago at Oak Ridge School.
“I’m excited about working with some of the same staff I worked with before and continuing my journey here in District 117,” said Mrs. Johnson, who lives in Downers Grove with husband Aaron and the couple’s two Golden Retrievers Tesla and Leilani. “This is such an amazing district and I am so proud to be part of it.”

Stephanie has been an integral part of the NPD117 team since arriving in the district 17 years ago as a teacher. She has also served as a Technology Instruction Coordinator in the district.
Mrs. Johnson said she learned some important lessons the last couple of years including the importance of building relationships with teachers and staff while maintaining an open-door policy.

“But the key to running a successful school is keeping kids at the forefront of everything we do and knowing they are the reason we are here,” she said. “We must keep making decisions that are in the best interest of our students.”
Colleagues describe Mrs. Johnson as “incredibly organized, professional, knowledgeable and caring.”
Stephanie said she is excited about working with a team that “continues to set a strong foundation for our youngest learners for whom this will be their first time in school.”
“I’ve been in the district my entire career and it has been a great experience,” she said. “I’m looking forward to continuing my role as Principal, but at Sorrick School, where I look forward to continuing to work with an amazing community and wonderful staff.”
Stephanie and Aaron enjoy traveling, with Maui, Hawaii, being their favorite destination. They also enjoy visiting the city of Chicago and trying new restaurants.
And, of course, spending time with Tesla and Leilani. “They are the best,” she said.
