Students and Parents All A-GLOW at Conrady Family Night

Family Night a Success

Wearing a long-sleeved Under Armour shirt, Jose Perez had this glow about him as he entered Room 68 at Conrady Junior High School on a recent evening. In fact, his mom Erica Perez and sister Juleen Fleitas also had a glow about them.

The three were among the nearly 40 students and parents who attended Conrady’s Family Night “Bingo Glow Party.” The art room was adorned with all sorts of neon and fluorescent lights that made shirts, pants, glasses and other glow-in-the-dark items light up.

Even the Bingo cards and markers used to circle the numbers glowed in the dark.

There were plenty of snacks and bottles of water as well as some really cool prizes, including Conrady Jaguar gear (some of which also glowed in the dark). “What a great way to get families together outside the home,” Mrs. Perez said. “Conrady has done a great job hosting events that focus around family.

The school recently held a Family Game Night that was also very well attended.

Jose Perez, an eighth-grader from Hickory Hills who is a member of the school’s jazz band, said he enjoys spending time with family. “I spend time with my friends both in school and out,” he said. “But I also enjoy spending time with my family.”

Agnes Worotniak was there with her two sons, Michael, a sixth-grader at Conrady, and Peter, who is 4.

“It’s important that kids have family support and parents who are involved,” Mrs. Worotniak said. “That makes all the difference in the world.”
