Successful Benefit for Teacher Swindled in Mortgage Scam

Prime Time Restaurant owner Billy Les hosted Benefit for popular Conrady Jr High Teacher.

Update to the Jan 11 Palos Patch Article :

On January 18 over 150 people piled into the Prime Time Restaurant to support Megan and Mathew Hunt. The newly wed couple saved every dollar, even as so far as to not go on a honeymoon, to save for a house. They were on their final leg to close on the house of their dreams when they found out at closing that they were victims of wire fraud amounting to over $65,000. Megan is such a well liked teacher by staff as well a students, so her friends at school decided to put together an event to help raise funds to help them with attorney expenses.

The following is a statement from Megan:

To My Wonderful Conrady Family & Billy Less of Prime Time Restaurant,

I wanted to thank you all again for the amazing event that was put together for me and my husband. I don’t know how I will ever be able to repay all of you!! Your generosity is truly overwhelming and I am so grateful to have all of you in my life. Everything was absolutely beautiful. Between the event itself, baskets, donations, t-shirts, food/cake, decorations, Palos Patch article, etc. I am in complete awe. Thank you Steven Makropoulos for spearheading the event and securing the venue at Prime Time, communicating with the owner Billy Les. A special thank to those who coordinated every tiny detail to make this a super successful event including handling money, selling raffle tickets, taking pictures, creating baskets and/or finding companies to donate, organizing a super generous venue, creating T-shirt’s, and so much more. The T-shirt’s are absolutely adorable and I am happy they will serve a duel purpose for everyone! It is truly amazing to see what a group of people can pull together! I also want to take a moment to especially thank Megan Sumner. This girl should be planning her own wedding but sacrificed that time to run an event for me. I am thrilled to have a best friend like her and I have never been more thankful to be a Conrady Jaguar. We had an overwhelming amount of people show up which is a true testament of how amazing our staff and community is. I also want to wholeheartedly thank Billy Les, of the Prime Time Restaurant, for the amazing amount of food that was provided for all who attended. He truly went above and beyond!! . Everything was delicious!!! I hope you all enjoyed your time as much as we did!

As you can imagine, these past couple of months have not been easy. This is definitely not how we pictured our first year of marriage going and the stress of losing every penny we had, on top of having nothing to show for it, has been emotionally draining. To add even more, knowing who has your money and seeing nothing be done about it, adds more resentment in an already difficult situation.

With your help, my husband and I have the ability to continue with a lawyer and seek justice. The funds raised will be used to pay for an official lawsuit against our bank, Title Company, and hopefully the hacker himself. We were told these companies will drag out the process, hoping we will run out of money, and give up. Obviously, they do not understand I have a family and amazing friends/community, who will not go away quietly. Because our story has been floating around via Facebook, Patch Article, and GoFundMe, we have prevented many other families from having a closing nightmare. We have already been thanked by people who avoided a similar situation because of the time others spent to share/write our story.

All in all, we thank you times a billion for giving up your time, energy, and money to help us get the justice we deserve. I believe there is a plan for us and for whatever reason we were not meant to have this home. Hopefully, in the near future, all of this will be behind us and we can finally start our family in a home we want. And when that FINALLY happens be expecting a pretty large house-warming party to celebrate, this time on us.

We love you all very much and thank you again for being such devoted friends and when your in Hickory Hills Stop by the Prime Time Restaurant for their great daily specials and tell them Megan sent you.
