Theodore “Ted” Lagen

86, of Palos Heights, IL went to his eternal rest with his loved ones beside him on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021

Ted leaves behind a wake of grief-stricken hearts. He is survived by Marianne Lagen; his children Nick (Anastasia), Tom (Jodi), George, and Katrina (Jeffrey); his grand-children Ted, Maria, Katrina, Tom, Warren, and Marianna (they will forever miss their Papou); his brother Pete and his brother in-law Spiro.

Ted and his family in Greece survived the German occupation in WWII and the ensuing Greek communist civil war. He and his two brothers - Gust and Pete - came to America through Ellis Island as refugees under the Truman Doctrine. He served his country in the Army and National Guard. Ted left his mark on the world and on everyone he met. His strong Orthodox faith and values carried him throughout his life. Ted lived by example and took every opportunity to help people and make everyone feel loved. Ted owned a grocery store with his brothers and sister for nearly 40 years. He spent his life teaching himself many subjects. Ted was a philosopher, often quoting Socrates and Plato in his thirst for knowledge and wisdom. Ted’s spirit lives on through all who knew him. His pearls of wisdom and advice resonate in our hearts. Ted lived the American dream.

The family is grateful to the wonderful doctors and nurses of The University of Chicago Hospital and Palos Community Hospital.
