PALOS HILLS, IL — Inclement weather moved many south suburban Veterans Day ceremonies indoors. Congresswoman Marie Newman (IL-03) joined the City of Palos Hills’ observances honoring all those who fought and served in the nation’s conflicts.

My dad was the hardest-working guy I knew, and as a peacekeeper in Europe, he fought tirelessly for peace and freedom.
I applaud his sacrifice as he worked against rising authoritarianism and preserving democratic principles across the world. American heroes courageously fight for our democracy every day they serve, and it doesn't end when they come home.
Let's thank our nation's veterans and their families for defending our democracy, putting the country before themselves, and keeping all of us safe.
To any veterans reading this - thank you for your service!
