Video: "Little Hats, Big Hearts" at Shepard

Students learn to crochet to support American Heart Association campaign

Shepard High school math teacher Sue Anderson collaborated in recent weeks with National Honor Society on a beautiful project.

Anderson taught students to crochet, and they make the beautiful little red hats featured in the video below. Local hospitals will receive the hats for babies born prematurely.

Students learned quickly: They made many hats on their own and returned the following week (after school) to make a few more together.

Their work supports “Little Hats, Big Hearts.” Sponsored by the American Heart Association, the campaign seeks to raise awareness of congenital birth defects and heart disease.
