Woman FedExes Purse Full Of Money In Phone Scam

Federal Express was able to intercept package with $10,000 after woman realized she was being scammed, reports said.

PALOS HILLS, IL — A Palos Hills woman FedExed a purse full of money to a scammer claiming to be a police officer, reports said.

Police responded to a deceptive practice complaint around 5 p.m. Jan 17. A woman in her thirties told officers she received a phone call from a man saying she would be arrested unless she sent $10,000. She was instructed to put the money in a purse and FedEx it to another state.

After she sent the cash, she realized it was a scam and FedEx was able to intercept the package. The woman did not wish to sign a complaint as long as she got the money back, according to police.
