Woodridge Man Snorts Cocaine, Smokes Pot at Durbin's: Cops

PALOS HILLS, IL -- A Woodridge man was arrested after he was spotted snorting cocaine in the men’s room and later smoking pot in the beer garden at a Palos Hills pizza parlor, prosecutors said. Jacob McAleer, 19, appeared before Cook County Judge Peter Felice on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. The judge called his case an “oxymoron.”

According to the charges, an employee saw McAleer on March 28 doing cocaine in the restroom at Durbin’s in Palos Hills. McAleer left the restroom and joined a friend in the beer garden where both allegedly started smoking pot. The two were escorted out of the restaurant. McAleer was arrested when he threw the cannabis and a purple baggie containing cocaine under his car, the prosecutor said.

The assistant public defender told the judge that McAleer is an honor student at the College of DuPage. She said he had no money for bond.

“If he can afford to buy cocaine he can afford to buy his freedom,” Felice said. “I find that to be an oxymoron.”

McAleer was released on a $30,000 I-bond. His next court date is April 12 in Bridgeview.
