Algonquin Road Under I-294 Will Close Monday
Bridge painting expected to take all week, says Illinois Tollway.

Algonquin Road under the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in Park Ridge is scheduled to close beginning the week of Monday, Aug. 25, for bridge painting. Electronic message signs and construction signs have been put in place to alert drivers in advance of the closure and detour.
Algonquin Road will be closed to traffic between Camp Ground Road and Oakton Street. A signed detour will be put in place directing traffic to use River Road and Oakton Street. Up to 9,900 vehicles a day use this stretch of Algonquin Road passing through Cook County Forest Preserve property.
In 2014, the Illinois Tollway is repairing and painting several systemwide bridges to extend the life of these structures. Most work is being conducted with off-peak lane closures to reduce the impact to traffic. However, a full closure of Algonquin Road is needed to provide a safe work zone for workers, and will allow the work to be completed in a shorter period of time, lessening the overall impact to traffic.

Additional work, including bridge deck crack sealing, is scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 1 and will require overnight lane closures on I-294 between Oakton Street and Rand Road. All work is expected to be completed in the fall.
