Fun Work at Wizard World
Matt Parker (my nephew) and I had a unique exsperience as official video bloggers for Wizard World.
My nephew Matt and I had the unique experience of being official video vloggers (video bloggers) for Wizard World, held at the Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont. This is one of the world’s largest pop culture conventions.
As vloggers, we were responsible for interviewing many of the celebrities, vendors and guests as possible. It was a great opportunity to talk to celebrities and get a valuable media experience and exposure. I have attended many of the Wizard World events in many cities and had covered the events for a few websites, but I had never worked for them in an official capacity.
Our experience started out positively with an interview with wrestling legend Kevin Nash. Nash talked to us about his upcoming projects. The man they call “Big Sexy” could not have been any nicer.

After Nash, it was a bit of a blur as Matt and I got over 50 video bits, including interviews with artists, authors and wrestlers. Everyone was in a good mood and we did not have one unpleasant incident. Even the few celebrities, who declined our interview requests, did so very politely and respectfully.
One moment which did stand out for me was interviewing actress Lauren Holly. I have been a fan of hers for many years. I admit, she was a high school crush of mine. I am happy to say she was extremely pleasant and funny. Because of th crowd at the convention, the interview was a bit shorter than planned, but I am not complaining. It was just wonderful talking to her.

Wizard World is more than a convention. It is a huge event. You could spend a whole day of just people watching. For me though, it was more fun meeting Nash, Holly and the other celebs like Dean Cain, Luke Perry, the Resistance Pro wrestlers and so many others.
We are very proud to have all of our videos on the Wizard World site. They will also be appearing on my site, JohngysBeat.com, over the next few weeks.
By the end of the weekend, Matt and I were exhausted. We did so much walking, talking, recording and editing. We were sad to see the convention end, but slightly relieved as we were finally able to simply relax after all of the action.
