Candidate Mo Khan Receives Daily Herald Endorsement

Park Ridge native Mo Khan’s campaign for State Representative (from Illinois’ 20th House District) has been formally endorsed by the Daily Herald, the third largest newspaper in Illinois and in the top 80 in the United States. The full endorsement can be read here: http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20140219/discuss/140218386/

Mr. Khan’s newest endorsement builds upon last week’s endorsement from The Illinois Observer, which described Khan as “full of fresh ideas, energy, and courage.”

The Daily Herald highlights Mr. Khan’s commitment to job creation, stating: “…the reason he says he is running — job creation. He wants to help community colleges become small business incubators, among other ideas.”

On the campaign trail, Mr. Khan has been an advocate for efficiently investing in education and increasing the speed at which technology is integrated into local schools. “Chicago has a booming tech sector that will create many new jobs and our campaign priority is to ensure that Illinois residents are the best prepared candidates for those jobs,” Khan states.

For Democrats hoping to break Mike McAuliffe’s grip on the 20th District, Khan is a young and energetic choice. McAuliffe, a moderate Republican and the son of former legislator Roger McAuliffe, has held the seat since 1997 with no challenge since 2004.

Khan’s primary opponent is Jerry Acciari of Niles, a retired longtime Lincolnwood police officer who did not fill out a questionnaire and who the Daily Herald has not been able to contact.

Khan is endorsed.

Today’s endorsement adds to the numerous others Khan has already received, including: United States Senator Tom Harkin, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, The Illinois Federation of Teachers, Personal Pac, Planned Parenthood IL, AFSCME Council 31, Citizen Action Illinois, Asian American Action Fund - Greater Chicago, The Illinois Observer and Maine Township Regular Democratic Organization.

Mo Khan is a 2003 graduate of Maine South High School, received an Accounting degree from the University of Iowa in 2007 and is in the process of earning a Law degree from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He has previously served as a Traveling Aide to Hillary Clinton during the 2008 Presidential Campaign and as Special Assistant to Alexi Giannoulias during the 2010 U.S. Senate Campaign.
