When Matthias (Matt) Kocur, 18, who is a senior at Maine South High School, was deciding on an Eagle Scout project he came to Carol Langan, Food Pantry Director, and asked what he could do for the Maine Township Food Pantry. The result was two moveable work carts that will be used not only to transport groceries to and from the shelves of the food pantry, but also as work stations where food boxes that help feed the needy in Maine Township can be assembled.

At the Maine Township Board meeting Tuesday, Feb. 27, he was honored for his contribution to food pantry operations. Although he began with a plan, the food cart design was modified during construction to fit the specific needs of the pantry. Kocur was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in December.
