Lutheran General Ranked #3 Among Recommended Illinois Hospitals

NerdWallet ranked Lutheran General, as well as Evanston Hospital, in the top 10 of most patient-recommended facilities in the state.

When uninsured Illinois residents gain health coverage once Obamacare is fully-implemented in January 2014, hospital quality will surely be a high priority for many. 

Residents won't have to travel very far to find it because Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and Evanston NorthShore University HealthSystem Hospital were recently listed as one of the top 10 most recommended hospitals in Illinois, according to NerdWallet. Lutheran ranked Number 3 and Evanston ranked Number 9.

The website recently rated more than 100 hospitals in Illinois to find the top 10 large hospitals that are most likely to be recommended by patients. 

Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield topped the list at number 1.

According to NerdWallet, factors such as communication from doctors, how well pain was controlled, cleanliness, patient room atmosphere and how quickly patients received help were also considered in the rankings. 

Evanston Hospital is ranked nationally in gastroenterology (#40) and gynecology (#21) by U.S. News & World Report.
