Great teachers give more than grades.

Beaubien teachers serve students and families on McTeacher's Night to raise money for PTO.

Chicago | Beaubien Elementary School students gave teachers an A-plus on their fundraising efforts to support local education and school activities.
Teachers from Beaubien volunteered behind the counter on Tuesday, October 16, at the Chicago McDonald’s located on Milwaukee Ave. , where they served students and their families in a fundraiser for Beaubien Elementary School.
Victoria Matej and Jim Carr teachers at Beaubien Elementary School tended the apple pie box during the night. Teachers Kim Sineni and Lucy Hannah worked the drive-thru while Debbie Solka and Daniella Nieves made shakes, cones, and McFlurries.
Angela Slaiwa, Maureen Bryers-Schroeder, and Victoria Matej did an outstanding job selling pies to customers throughout the night. The pies were donated to the school, for sale at the event, by Gianna Funkhouser, owner/operator. The Beaubien Chorus performed at the event and one of the songs they sang was a McDonald's mashup which was a combination of McDonald's past jingles and written by a Beaubien 8th grader. The music was enjoyed by everyone in attendance.
The proceeds from the sale of 240 pies went directly to benefit the students. Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the McTeacher’s Night sales were donated directly to Beaubien Elementary School as well, which plans to use the money to help pay for field trips, performances, classroom supplies, and art supplies.

Gianna Funkhouser, Owner Operator of the Chicago McDonald’s, and the Funkhouser family were delighted to participate in the worthy cause for education and the community.
The event was coordinated by Beaubien Kindergarten teacher Maureen Bryers-Schroeder.
