Sponsorship of this event which is scheduled for rain or shine on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot at Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge, carries with it a number of benefits for the community at large as well as local businesses and organizations who choose to take advantage of this opportunity, according to Laura J. Morask, Township Supervisor.

For one of three affordable levels of sponsorship, individuals, businesses and organizations that sponsor the garage sale can boost their awareness in the community in a number of ways. This year’s event is expected to draw between 1000 to 1500 attendees plus approximately 80 exhibitor groups. The event is well publicized on the Township website, with advertising, newspaper articles, signage around the area, and with a widely distributed flyer as well as with a front-page article in Mainely News, the township newsletter, which goes to 55,000 households throughout Maine Township.

Area residents can also participate in several ways. People can reserve space to sell their own items, make a financial donation or come to find bargains for themselves. Township residents may sign up for spaces beginning Monday, Aug. 6. All non-township residents may sign up beginning one week later on Monday, Aug. 13.

Spaces, which are eight by sixteen feet, are $25 each. Premium outdoor spaces are $30. Table rentals are available for $10. Four premium indoor spaces inside the garage are $75 and include a table. All spaces are sold on a first-come, first served basis.

“Our garage sale is one of our most popular events and allows kids to go to our Summer Adventure Camp,” said Laura J. Morask, Township Supervisor, who added that it also helps fund the Maine Township Food Pantry. “So for a fun day, you get to declutter your house and sell all those piled up items for which you have been waiting to do a garage sale….we take care of the hassle and also have a wonderful assortment of community vendors and sponsors.”
