Library Staff Members Receive Emergency Training

Every other year, a number of Park Ridge Public Library staff members are trained on emergency equipment and procedures, including CPR and AED (defibrillator) to lend assistance in times of medical emergency.  While it’s always the policy of the Library to call 911 if a patron or colleague should require care, having trained staff on hand can help to stabilize a situation until paramedics arrive.

Currently, 21 staff members are certified to offer assistance within the Library. Training is provided by the Park Ridge Fire Department and licensed teachers.

“With almost 1,500 visits per day, we take public safety seriously,” says Library Director Janet Van De Carr. “This training helps our staff understand what they can and can’t do if someone needs help.”
