Despite record-breaking heat Saturday, Sept. 23, this year's Maine Township Community Garage Sale broke its all-time fundraising record bringing in net proceeds of $5154.01 with $3865.51 going to Adventure Summer Day Camp and and $1288.50 going to the Emergency Food Pantry. The amount exceeded the previous 2015 record by $378 and last year’s revenue by $572.55. The event is organized by the MaineStay Youth & Family Services Department of Maine Township.
“Our garage sale is one of our most popular events," said Maine Township Supervisor Laura J. Morask. "Not only was it a fun day for all residents who had the chance to declutter their houses and shop for bargains, it raised funds that allow kids who would not otherwise be able to afford it to attend Adventure Summer Day Camp and helped feed hundreds of hungry people who rely on Maine Township's Food Pantry for emergency and general assistance each month."
