Moylan Dodges Debate

State Rep. Marty Moylan, the incumbent Democrat from the 55th District, is dodging one of the only two scheduled debates between now and the Nov. 4 election.

“It is obvious that Moylan with his strong ties and backing from Mike Madigan, the House Speaker, doesn’t want to talk about the sorry state of the Illinois economy and the Democrats’ shameful record of tax increases, job loss and the migration of business and citizens out of Illinois,” Thillens says. “Otherwise, why would he be dodging an opportunity to have an open discussion and answer questions from citizens and the business community?”

Thillens is referring to the invitation by the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce to hold a debate between the two candidates seeking to be the next representative of the 55th District which includes much of Park Ridge, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village and other areas. The Chamber attempted to schedule the debate for Oct. 8 during the organization’s monthly luncheon.

“He was repeatedly dodging inquiries from the Chamber Director and gave no solid reason not to show,” Thillens said. “The people of the district deserve an opportunity to hear directly from the candidates and for the candidates to defend their positions while answering questions about their records and plans.”

He added, Moylan is denying residents that chance by ducking public appearances. Moylan needs to defend his lackluster legislative record of inaction and unwavering support of Mike Madigan.
