New OEM Assistant Director Named by Maine Township

Maine Township's Office of Emergency Management is widely recognized as one of the best in the country.

New OEM Assistant Director named for Maine Township

Carol A. Teschky, Supervisor of Maine Township, has announced the promotion of Marvin Michnik of Niles to the position of Assistant Director for the Office of Emergency Management (OEM). A longtime dedicated OEM volunteer, Michnik has been involved with the Township’s OEM for 16 years. The Maine Township Board of Trustees voted Feb. 24 to appoint Michnik to fill the vacancy left by Dagmar Rutzen when she was promoted to Director following the death of longtime Director Robert Cohen.

“Marv has been an outstanding and committed member of our OEM team”, says Rutzen. “I have learned to depend on him and his abilities especially during the many emergency situations we get involved with”.

Supervisor Teschky notes that Michnik has worked in the community for over 37 years. He has previously served as an OEM Captain and Communications Supervisor. His other experience includes the Skokie Civil Defense where he was a Sergeant of Communications and as a coordinator for the Northern Cook County Skywarn where he was an advanced weather spotter and amateur radio operator. He also has served in various positions for 27 years with Red Cross Disaster Services.
