The 2014 Niles-Park Ridge Crop Walk on Oct. 19 was another annual success. With 13 churches and hundreds of walkers, the financial contributions and food collected were outstanding. The contributions are still being counted. Maine Township’s Emergency Food Pantry and others will get a percentage of the contributions of money and food. From l to r, are Carol A. Teschky, Maine Township Supervisor, longtime Walk Volunteer Trudy Stenzel, Township Food Pantry Coordinator Carol Langan, and Linda Santrella, who originated this Crop Walk about 25 years ago. An estimated one ton of food was collected the day of the walk which originated at Messiah Lutheran Church in Park Ridge.
