The city of Park Ridge has applied for $27 million in grants for flood control, a city press release states.
Park Ridge was hit hard by flooding in April and again at the end of June after heavy rains. After the June deluge, Park Ridge Mayor Dave Schmidt wrote a letter articulating his own frustrations.
The grants are for flood control projects that are part of the city's comprehensive sewer improvement and flood reduction program. The projects would include: Mayfield Estates, Stewart/Warren/Engel/Western, Burton/Fenton, the Country Club area, Overhill/Lahon and Northwest Park areas.
