Park Ridge Community Star: Scott Richter
Each year the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce recognizes outstanding members of the Park Ridge community.

The Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce panel of past presidents recently selected Scott Richter, Federation Chief for the Indian Scouts, as a 2012 Park Ridge Community Star.
Richter’s quiet leadership has great impact on the Park Ridge community. The Indian Scout program in Park Ridge is one of the largest service organizations in our community and it involves families with young children, thereby creating a culture of service for our next generation, a press release from the chamber states.
Richter will receive his Park Ridge Community Star at the Community Stars Dinner Dance on Saturday, January 19, at Rosewood Restaurant. Tickets are $75 per person and may be purchased at the (847-825-3121).

In his first year as Federation Chief, Richter was faced with making a decision about the Holiday Lights effort in Park Ridge – whether to continue or not. Since the City abandoned the project two years prior due to budget contraints, the Indian Scouts have led the effort to put up lights throughout the city, the press release states.
Richter found that the leadership was divided on how to move forward, though most were in support of providing help on set-up day, but not on the organizational end. He then assembled a team that involved the Indian Scouts, the Boy Scouts, the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis, Rotary and Taste of Park Ridge and City of Park Ridge leaders to come together to provide the logistics and operational support to bring the project to fruition.

"The Holiday Lights project is huge, but the real accomplishment for Scott was in putting together a coalition from this community to maximize the success of the project. This is a time in our history where groups need to come together to accomplish goals because the people within the community are stronger together than separate. Scott’s leadership is a beautiful example of this philosophy," the chamber press release states.
