Park Ridge Firefighters Battle Garage Fire

A two-car garage in the 100 block of Columbia Avenue caught fire Sept. 1.

A garage fire in the 100 block of Columbia Avenue caused about $75,000 in damage Sept. 1.

The Park Ridge Fire Department was called at about 12:53 p.m. When firefighters arrived on the scene the two-car detached garage was fully engulfed, a press release from the fire department states.

Part of the garage roof caved in during the blaze, collapsing on a vehicle that was inside the garage. The fire destroyed the garage, the vehicle and moderately damaged a neighbor's garage and also damaged some of the siding to the home.

No one was injured in the fire and the family was able to return to their home after the fire was out.

Park Ridge was assisted by the Rosemont Fire Department and the Norwood Park Fire Protection District.
