Park Ridge Kiwanis Honors Firefighters, Police and Civilian Volunteers

Four Park Ridge firefighters and three Police Department award winners were honored May 13 at the Public Safety Awards hosted by the Park Ridge Noon Kiwanis Club.

During a fabulous luncheon prepared by Chef Dave Marino at The Summit of Uptown, Kiwanis President Frank Kaminski who is also the Police Chief, awarded John Bennett as Volunteer of the Year, Laura Campbell as Civilian Employee of the Year and Officer Kenneth King as Officer of the Year.

Fire Chief Michael Zywanski presented fire awards for bravery in action to Firefighters Chris Herling, Jeremy Knautz, Geoff Mleko and John Piltaver. Firefighter Mike Isom also received an award but was not present.

Here, left to right, are Herling, Knautz, Mleko, Piltaver, Zywanksi, Bennett, Campbell, King and Kaminski. The annual recognition was originally presented by the VFW but recently has been done by the Kiwanis Club.
