Sewer Updates: Watch For Crews, Water Shutoff, Re-Routes
Motorists, use caution around the construction area/sewer main work in Park Ridge at Devon/Talcott/Courtland. Some residents and businesses will have their water shut off for a few hours Thursday, and traffic will be re-routed.
Watch for orange construction cones and work crews at the Talcott/Devon/Courtland intersection Thursday, Friday and Saturday, as the city of Park Ridge updates a sewer connection at that location. There will also be some water shutoffs and re-routing of traffic.
Park Ridge City Engineer Sarah Mitchell provided the following information, as relayed by Mayor David Schmidt:

The City of Park Ridge has resumed construction of several of the sewer projects that started last fall. Our contractor is currently working on S. Crescent, just south of Talcott. On Thursday, March 28, our contractor will be making a sewer connection in the middle of the intersection of Talcott/Devon/Courtland. As a result, southbound Courtland will be closed south of the intersection, as well as eastbound Devon approaching the intersection. Eastbound Devon traffic will be routed north to Talcott at Cumberland. Local traffic (businesses and residents) will still be able to get through. Westbound Devon will remain open. Traffic travelling through the intersection of Talcott/Devon/Courtland will have to use caution. This set-up will be during the day only, and should be for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (when we will concrete the hole). Traffic signage will be in place on Wednesday. Businesses and residents on Courtland were notified yesterday.
Due to conflict with existing watermains, we will have to shut off the watermain in conflict during the work, which involves several businesses and residents in the area. The area affected is primarily on Talcott from Crescent to Fairview. All affected businesses and residents will be notified today of the water shut-off which will be on Thursday only, from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm.

We feel the timing is good to get this done, as it is a slower traffic week due to spring break and Friday being a holiday for many people. We will do our best to minimize impact over the course of the next few days.
