Two arrested in connection with Manito robbery, shooting (pjstar.com) — A Peoria resident and an East Peoria man have been arrested after an early-morning shooting and robbery at a rural Manito home, where a man was shot in the chest and taken to a Peoria hospital. Both suspects face armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm charges, while one also faces a reckless discharge count as investigators piece together what happened.
3. East Peoria man faces sex assault charges after home invasion arrest (pjstar.com) — East Peoria police say a local man was arrested after an August 13 incident in which someone allegedly entered a home and committed a sexual act in a child's bedroom. The suspect faces multiple felony charges, is being held in Tazewell County Jail, and is scheduled for arraignment in early September, with prosecutors seeking to deny pretrial release.
4. New statewide Farm SOS helpline offers free support to farmers (centralillinoisproud.com) — Reported from Peoria, a new FARM SOS helpline now offers free, confidential, 24-hour mental health and support services to farmers and farm families across Illinois. Built from a 2019 pilot, it connects callers with trained professionals, telehealth counseling, and up to six no-cost sessions to help address financial stress, personal hardship, and the stigma around seeking help.
